  1. 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  2. 1/2 small yellow onion
  3. 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  4. 1 canned whole peeled tomatoes
  5. 1/4 teaspoon granulated sugar
  6. 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt/to your taste
  7. About 5 small basil leaves


  1. Chop up 1/2 a small yellow onion and mince up 2 garlic cloves.
  2. Then add the onion and garlic to a pan, filled with 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil, over medium heat.
  3. Stir the onion and garlic, until the onion becomes translucent.
  4. Now add 1 can of whole peeled tomatoes into a blender and pulse it until it is pureed. About 5 pulses.
  5. Now add the pureed tomatoes to the pan and stir over medium-low heat for about 15 minutes.
  6. Now add 1/4 teaspoon of sugar, 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt, and 5 basil leaves.
